Allow Copy Items from Assembly to Works Orders

When you create a works order the order is created, typically, based on the selected assembly code – the works order header based on the assembly and the works order details based on the components.

The system allows the option to define copy items from the assembly and component stock records to the works order header / detail but there was no option to copy from the assembly / component files themselves. New in Datafile 2023 is the option to copy from the assembly/component to the works order header/detail files.

Installation

Application User Facilities

New parameters have been added to the Bill of Materials Optional Features that allow the system to action the copy items for Operation lines. Premier Installer users can right-click on the Enter Works Orders menu option and choose to Configure Option before choosing the Optional Features parameter screen.

Alternatively, users can select Installation from the main menu followed by Application Manager and then Application User Facilities. Select the Bill of Materialsapplication followed by Enter/Amend Orders and then Optional Features.

Assembly to Header Copy Items – set to enable the definition of assembly to header copy items.When set a pop-up form will be displayed allowing you to configure the copy items.

Component to Detail Copy Items – set to enable the definition of component to detail copy items.Again, when set, a pop-up form will be displayed allowing you to configure the copy items.

Copy items are defined in pairs. You reference the item you are copying from on the assembly/component file and then the item you are copying to on the works order header/detail file. Copy items should be defined between compatible types – text items to text items, dates to date, numbers to numbers (with matching decimal places) and so on.
