Datafile Software Missing Elements (Input XML Files) If an element is present in an XML file but is not present in the Datafile template, then the element (and any child elements) is ignored, and any data it might have contained is lost. Similarly, if the XML file lacks an element that is present in the Datafile template, no error is reported. There is no way to signal that an incoming XML file ought to have had an element, other than that the expected data is blank or zero. When designing a Datafile template for incoming XML files, it is really only necessary to include the elements that contain the data you wish to process. |
