Running the SQL Manager

Once you have databases set to mirror / import you are ready to run the SQL Manager – run this from the desktop and/or the menu on start-up menu. When run a small ‘grey’ form will display temporarily before minimising to the tray – if you hold the mouse over the Datafile icon it will show the current status of the SQL Manager.

When run the SQLMGR.EXE uses a PARAM.INI file to control various options. The PARAM.INI entries include:

CONSOLE=0 – if set to ‘1’ this option controls the display of a ‘command’ viewer showing the SQL Manager processing. Leave as ‘0’ to run without this viewer.

MINI=1 – when set the SQL Manager is minimised to the tray, set as ‘0’ not to minimise

DEBUG=0 - this provides extra information to an error log in case of a problem, usually leave as ‘0’

TIMER=2000 – this is the number of milliseconds between each read of the SQLDET.DFD to see if any updating to a SQL table is required.

SQLMGRINI=SQLMGR.INI – this is the filename of the SQL INI file that contains the parameter details of the link to the SQL tables (updated via the SQL Configuration tool). If no pathname set then INI file is assumed to be within the same folder as the SQLMGR.EXE

TRAYMSG=1 – when set to ‘1’ this controls the display of the current/last SQL action when the mouse is held over the Datafile icon minimised to the tray

The SQLMGR.EXE uses the standard DFWIN.INI within the C:\WINDOWS folder when determining the Datafile system to use. If you do not wish to use the DFWIN.INI then you can add the pathname to the Datafile system after the call to the SQLMGR.EXE as you would for standard Datafile use – i.e. ‘C:\DatafileSQL\SQLMGR.EXE F:\DFWIN\’

Once the SQL Manager is in operation you can then access the mirrored SQL tables as needed.
