User-Defined Reports – Test Conditions on $SUBHEADER

The $SUBHEADER control block within a user-defined report is typically used for title information relating to the next set of records reported. For example, if reporting transactions and the BREAK (i.e. group item) is ACCOUNT then the $SUBHEADER block could include the account details for which the following transactions relate. This new feature allows the use of test conditions on the $SUBHEADER control block which allows for the definition of the ‘titles’ to more closely relate to the following records.

For example, if listing transactions and grouping by transaction type then the $SUBHEADER would be set to ‘break’ on the transaction type data item. Without test conditions the $SUBHEADER would be identical each time it printed, with test conditions you can have specific $SUBHEADER blocks for each transaction type.

When adding/updating the $SUBHEADER control block up to three test options can be applied. As with the test conditions on $RECORD or $SUBTOTAL control blocks these conditions are applied on a AND basis if more than one condition is set. For each condition you select the data item you wish to test, the match type, and the value you wish to match on.
