This displays a summary of the current status of the nominal ledger. It acts as a useful check on the ledger.
COMPANY — displays the identifying code and the name of the company in use
FILES — displays the number of accounts and transactions reserved in the data files in total, and the number used so far. It should be clear if the files are becoming full and you can use the Controls & Audit Manager options to expand the files (if auto-expand not enabled).
DATES — displays the system date, the current period number, the total number of periods in the year and whether the previous year is still open for postings
PREVIOUS YEAR STILL OPEN / CLOSED- One or other of these messages displays depending on the status of last year’s accounts.
SALES LEDGER PERIOD / PURCHASE LEDGER PERIOD – The current period number active for the sales and purchase ledger is displayed here, together with whether each is the current or previous year.
CONTROLS — displays the following details:
the last journal number used
the highest transaction record number for brought forward balances
the highest transaction number printed so far on any transaction listing
