Delete an Account - Cashbook

Selecting the DELETE option allows you to delete an account. You cannot delete an account unless it has a non-zero balance, nor can you delete an account which still has transactions on file. Indeed you may have to wait until after you have cleared down the journals before you can delete an account.

Key a valid code here and some details from the nominal account record are displayed. You may use the <F4-Select> key if you are not sure of the account code. You are then prompted ‘Ok to Delete This Account?’. ‘No’ abandons this attempt to delete the account and prompts for the code of the next account you want to try. If you reply ‘Yes’ the system checks that the current balance is zero and that there are no transactions present for the account before deleting it.

You may not delete an active account, and should you try you are warned ‘Account Is Active - Cannot Be Deleted’. Key <Enter> to return to the account code prompt. <Escape> at this point returns you to the menu.
